Health Care Services

Island residents can now get help applying for a PEI Health Card, registering for the patient registry and signing up for virtual healthcare, at Access PEI locations across the province.

Building Permits

We undertook a project to make the application process faster for people to get a building and development permits by collaborating with three departments:

  • Agriculture
  • Transportation and Infrastructure
  • Environment, Energy and Climate Action

Skip the Waiting Room

Service PEI partnered with Thinking Big to create a user-friendly tool to simplify online bookings and client communications. Skip the Waiting Room is used to improve in-person customer service through a variety of programs, such as: Net Zero Free Programs, marriage licenses and health cards appointment bookings.

POS Energy Efficient Equipment Rebate

  • The Energy Efficient Equipment Rebate program gives Islanders a discount on energy efficient equipment for their home.
  • Originally, there were issues with the application process causing delays for clients to receive their rebate.
  • In collaboration with the Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action, Service PEI changed the process from an application to a Point of Sale (POS) rebate, taking the burden off the client and eliminating delays.

Free Energy Efficiency Equipment Program

  • Service PEI, in collaboration with the Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action, helped create the Free Heat Pump Program, which expanded to Free Insulation and Free Hot Water Heater programs.
  • Service PEI stays in touch with clients to inform them about the process, let them know when they are approved for installation and contacts the contractors on their behalf.

Electric Vehicle Rebate

  • Service PEI, along with the Net Zero division, created the most generous electric vehicle rebate program in Canada.
  • When Island residents purchase a Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles or Battery Electric Vehicles (PHEV or BEV) from a local dealership, they can get a $2500 - $5000 rebate (respectively).
  • Service PEI handles the administration of this program and the shipment of Level 2 chargers. Within the first year, 455 Islanders received the rebate.
  • Islanders may be eligible for an additional $5,000 rebate from the federal government, if they purchase a new fully electric vehicle.

Electric Bike Rebate

  • Island residents can get a $500 rebate when they buy a new electric bike at a local store, or online.
  • Service PEI played a key role in creating this program and continues to handle the intake and approval process to ensure both clients and merchants receive their rebates quickly.
  • Since April 1, 2023, there have been 429 electric bike rebates administered.
