MyPEI Account
To verify your account in-person, you’ll need two pieces of valid ID
Primary ID: Must be one of the following:
- PEI Driver’s License
- Voluntary ID
Secondary ID: Choose one from the following list:
- Birth Certificate
- Canadian Citizenship Card
- Permanent Resident Card
- Certificate of Indian Status
- Canadian Passport
- Nexus Card
- Official Immigration Document
You will also need:
- To be at least 16 years of age
- A mobile phone
- Access to your email
Registering a new to you vehicle:
Requirements:
- Prior owners' registration card and/or bill of sale with all fields completed
- MUST include name of buyer, name of seller, purchase price, and seller’s signature
- Proof of auto insurance
- Proof of valid inspection
- Funds to pay sales tax if purchased privately

Exchanging a driver’s license from another Province or Territory:
Requirements:
- Current Canadian Driver’s License card (most recent copy)
- Any work or study permits
- For Class 1-4 licenses – a Highway Safety Medical must be submitted and approved prior to exchange
- Proof of Residency Documents – two pieces from the list below confirming your PEI address
- Current utility bills, i.e. cable, electricity, phone
- Formal lease or rental agreement
- Letter of employment on company letterhead or pay stub with your name and address
- Federal or provincial government mail, i.e. tax, GST, correspondence
- Bank documents showing name and address, i.e. personal cheque, mortgage document, credit card/bank statement

Requirements:
- Passport or PEI Driver’s License
- Health Card from another Province or Territory
- Any work or study permits in your name
